AdaptTable for ng-bootstrap
Nested tables in ng-bootstrap
Open a row and the panel holds another ng-bootstrap table — the same component, not a hand-built list. Each person has recent orders; the inner table has its own columns and row keys.
nestedTable() mounts the kit's DataTable with defaults that keep the two tables from fighting over the URL. Rows with no nested table can still use rowDetail().
The expand chevron and both tables are ng-bootstrap.
The code
import { Component, input } from "@angular/core";
import type { ColumnDef, NestedTableDefaults } from "@adapttable/angular";
import { AdaptDataTable } from "@adapttable/ng-bootstrap";
import { nestedTable } from "@adapttable/ng-bootstrap/nested-table";
interface Order {
id: string;
item: string;
}
interface Customer {
id: string;
name: string;
orders: Order[];
}
@Component({
selector: "app-orders",
imports: [AdaptDataTable],
template: `
<adapt-data-table
[data]="row().orders"
[columns]="columns"
[rowKey]="rowKey"
[urlSync]="defaults().urlSync"
[searchable]="defaults().searchable"
[tableLabel]="defaults().tableLabel"
/>
`,
})
export class Orders {
readonly row = input.required<Customer>();
readonly defaults = input.required<NestedTableDefaults>();
readonly columns: ColumnDef<Order>[] = [{ key: "item" }];
readonly rowKey = (order: Order) => order.id;
}
@Component({
selector: "app-customers",
imports: [AdaptDataTable],
template: `
<adapt-data-table
[data]="rows()"
[columns]="columns"
[rowKey]="rowKey"
[features]="features"
/>
`,
})
export class Customers {
readonly rows = input.required<readonly Customer[]>();
readonly columns: ColumnDef<Customer>[] = [{ key: "name" }];
readonly rowKey = (row: Customer) => row.id;
readonly features = [
nestedTable<Customer>((row) => ({
label: `Orders for ${row.name}`,
table: Orders,
})),
];
}

The same feature in the other kits
- Nested tables in Unstyled — Native elements — your own CSS
- Nested tables in NG-ZORRO — Ant Design components for Angular
- Nested tables in Angular Material — Material surfaces, native controls
- Nested tables in Angular Aria — Accessible behavior, precise styling
- Nested tables in ngx-bootstrap — Bootstrap controls and overlays
- Nested tables in Angular CDK — CDK behavior, a neutral theme
- Nested tables in Spartan — Sharp borders, subtle elevation
- Nested tables in Taiga UI — Soft surfaces, expressive controls
More ng-bootstrap features
- Filtering in ng-bootstrap — Ranges, selects, an AND/OR tree and chips — all in the URL.
- Column management in ng-bootstrap — Show, hide, reorder, pin and resize — from a menu you did not write.
- Column groups in ng-bootstrap — Spanning headers that collapse to a stub, a kept child, or a custom cell.
- Row selection in ng-bootstrap — A set of ids that survives paging, with bulk actions over it.
- Rows in ng-bootstrap — Pin rows from a 3-dot menu, and merge a team that runs down the page.
- Row reordering in ng-bootstrap — Drag or keyboard moves, announced — the host writes.
- Inline cell editing in ng-bootstrap — Native editors in the cell; every write goes through your handler.
- Row grouping in ng-bootstrap — Drag, select or keyboard grouping, with totals in the headers.
- Aggregation in ng-bootstrap — Footer totals, pinned summaries, group aggregates — not data rows.
- CSV export in ng-bootstrap — One toolbar button, a CSV of the table as it stands.
- Row and column virtualization in ng-bootstrap — 40,000 rows in a scroll box, only the visible ones rendered.
- Tree data in ng-bootstrap — Nesting, chevrons, lazy children, and a tree on phones.
- Mobile cards in ng-bootstrap — Every row becomes a card on phones. Automatically, with the same state.
- Pivot tables in ng-bootstrap — Rows down the side, dimensions across the top, subtotals at every level.
- Saved views in ng-bootstrap — Name an arrangement and restore it from the menu.
- Spreadsheet formulas in ng-bootstrap — ROUND, POWER, SQRT, IF — computed columns, errors in the cell.
- Right-to-left ng-bootstrap data table — Arabic strings, a flipped axis, and a popover that opens from the right edge.
- Live updates in ng-bootstrap — Rows change while you read them. Sort and selection hold.
- Accessible ng-bootstrap data table — Arrow-key focus, a visible ring, forced-colors, and live announcements.
- AI table assistant in ng-bootstrap Angular — Local sort, questions and approved edits with real table outcomes.
