AdaptTable for Spartan
Row and column virtualization in Spartan
Compose virtualize() and the table renders the rows in view plus a small overscan, whatever the dataset's size — forty thousand rows on this page, a few dozen of them in the page at once.
The scroll box scrolls rather than the page, and sorting and filtering keep working on the whole dataset rather than on what is drawn. virtualize({ virtualizeColumns: true }) does the same across, for column sets wider than the box.
The code
import { Component, input } from "@angular/core";
import type { ColumnDef } from "@adapttable/angular";
import { AdaptDataTable } from "@adapttable/spartan";
import { virtualize } from "@adapttable/spartan/virtualize";
const columns: ColumnDef<Person>[] = [
{ key: "name", sortable: true },
{ key: "team" },
{ key: "budget", sortable: true },
];
@Component({
selector: "app-people",
imports: [AdaptDataTable],
template: `
<adapt-data-table
[data]="rows()"
[columns]="columns"
[rowKey]="rowKey"
paginationMode="infinite"
[maxHeight]="480"
[features]="features"
/>
`,
})
export class People {
readonly rows = input.required<readonly Person[]>();
readonly columns = columns;
readonly rowKey = (row: Person) => row.id;
readonly features = [virtualize()];
}

More Spartan features
- Filtering in Spartan — Ranges, selects, an AND/OR tree and chips — all in the URL.
- Column management in Spartan — Show, hide, reorder, pin and resize — from a menu you did not write.
- Column groups in Spartan — Spanning headers that collapse to a stub, a kept child, or a custom cell.
- Row selection in Spartan — A set of ids that survives paging, with bulk actions over it.
- Rows in Spartan — Pin rows from a 3-dot menu, and merge a team that runs down the page.
- Row reordering in Spartan — Drag or keyboard moves, announced — the host writes.
- Inline cell editing in Spartan — Native editors in the cell; every write goes through your handler.
- Row grouping in Spartan — Drag, select or keyboard grouping, with totals in the headers.
- Aggregation in Spartan — Footer totals, pinned summaries, group aggregates — not data rows.
- Nested tables in Spartan — A real table under a row — same engine, own columns, own keys.
- CSV export in Spartan — One toolbar button, a CSV of the table as it stands.
- Tree data in Spartan — Nesting, chevrons, lazy children, and a tree on phones.
- Mobile cards in Spartan — Every row becomes a card on phones. Automatically, with the same state.
- Pivot tables in Spartan — Rows down the side, dimensions across the top, subtotals at every level.
- Saved views in Spartan — Name an arrangement and restore it from the menu.
- Spreadsheet formulas in Spartan — ROUND, POWER, SQRT, IF — computed columns, errors in the cell.
- Right-to-left Spartan data table — Arabic strings, a flipped axis, and a popover that opens from the right edge.
- Live updates in Spartan — Rows change while you read them. Sort and selection hold.
- Accessible Spartan data table — Arrow-key focus, a visible ring, forced-colors, and live announcements.
- AI table assistant in Spartan Angular — Local sort, questions and approved edits with real table outcomes.
